Feeling Lost In Life? 3 Coaching Tools To Gain Clarity And Create A Life That’s 100% Aligned With You

If you’re feeling lost in life right now, I see you. I've been there, my clients have been there and I know that this phase in your life can feel confusing, frustrating, overwhelming, anxiety-inducing.
You want to have answers, your mind wants to have answers (it wants to know where to go and what problem to solve!).
This is a moment in time when many people look for clarity on the outside: asking their loved ones "Hey, what do you think I should do with my life?", scrolling Instagram, deep-diving into people's LinkedIn profiles, or googling “What’s my purpose?” “Which job is perfect for me?” “Which business should I start in 2025?” "Why do I feel so lost?"
Sound familiar?
But here’s the thing—looking outside for answers when you’re feeling lost will only make you feel more disconnected. Instead, this is the time to turn inward.
I promise that finding clarity and coming back to yourself is much easier than you think. BUT, it is a process. To get you started, I'm sharing three powerful coaching tools that will help you gain clarity, get back on track, and create a life that’s 100% aligned with you.
Before we dive in, this article is based on Episode 26 of my podcast, What If It Is Possible? So, if you want even more insights, be sure to listen to the full episode here.
1. Meditation: Your Shortcut to Gaining Clarity
One of the biggest reasons you’re feeling lost in life is that you're disconnected from your true self, your needs, your wants, what's calling you. When was the last time you really checked in with your thoughts, emotions, and desires? If you don’t intentionally carve out time to listen to yourself and build that connection, you won't be able to feel confident in your decisions or where to go next.
This means that your first task is to start connecting with yourself again. And one of the simplest and most powerful ways to do that is meditation. It slows down your thoughts, shifts you into a more relaxed state (your brain goes into Alpha brain waves), and helps you access deeper insights.
When you’re stuck in autopilot—running on unconscious programming from childhood, following societal expectations—it’s hard to know what you truly want. Meditation creates space for your real desires to surface.
I realise that some people find meditation intimidating and are scared of what they're going to find. I have great news for you: when the mind is still (which is what we want to achieve with meditation), all you're going to find is love and compassion. The worst thing that can happen in a meditation is a "bad" thought and you're thinking those all the time anyways.
If you're a beginner I have a few tips for you:
Start small: try a 5-minute meditation a couple of times a week
Experiment with different types of meditation until you find a style and teacher you like
Start with meditations that focus on stilling the mind and coming into contact with yourself
With consistent practice, you’ll strengthen the muscle of stilling your mind and you'll start to get more and more clear on what truly matters to you. If you need guidance, I’ve recorded meditations specifically designed to help you reconnect with yourself—check them out on my YouTube channel.

2. Shift Your Focus: What Do You Already Know About Yourself?
One of the biggest mistakes people make when they feel lost in life is obsessing over what they don’t know. Your mind doesn't like uncertainty and when you focus on what you don't know you're constantly in the "uncertain" territory.
Then your nervous system gets aroused. And when your nervous system is aroused you can't think clearly because your body is in protective mode vs productive mode.
My invitation: instead of stressing about the unknown, start with what you do know about yourself and your next steps. Here’s a game-changing exercise I use with my coaching clients:
The Core Self Exercise
Draw three circles inside each other on a piece of paper.
Inner Circle: Your Core Qualities
What adjectives describe who you are at your core? (e.g., kind, curious, creative, empathetic)
These are your unchanging traits—who you are, no matter what.
Middle Circle: Your Core Values
What truly matters to you in life? (e.g., growth, adventure, connection, freedom)
These are your non-negotiables—the things that make life feel fulfilling, meaningful and that you can't imagine not having in your life.
Outer Circle: Your Core Interests
What topics, activities, or fields light you up? (e.g., personal development, yoga, business, travel, cooking)
Even if you have many interests, there are themes that consistently show up.
This is your blueprint that you can always come back to. Once you map this out, you’ll start seeing patterns, your mind and your nervous system will relax (your mind now finally has something tangible to work with!)—and ideas, clarity and small nudges around your next steps will come naturally.
I guide you through this exercise in detail in the podcast episode and I also share how this exact process helped one of my clients find clarity and her next step.
3. Pay Attention to Your Emotions: They’re Your Inner Compass
Your emotions are not random. In fact, they’re one of your biggest tools for finding clarity - they signal what you like and what you don't, what feels good and what doesn't, what resonates and what doesn't...
But because most of us are disconnected from our bodies and distrust our feelings, we're not able to read those signals. This happens because we've been taught that our emotions aren't valid and to ignore them. So in all fairness, how are you supposed to know if no one told you?
In reality, your feelings are messages from your inner wisdom. The basic rule is this: If it doesn’t feel right, it’s not right!
Here’s a quick guide of what some of the other emotions are telling you:
Anger = A boundary has been crossed.
Joy, excitement, inspiration = You’re on the right path!
Frustration, boredom, anxiety = You’re moving in the wrong direction.
Fear = your system is trying to protect you from a real or imagined threat. Fear isn't a sign to not move forward, it's a warning to make sure it's safe.
This is going to sound really simple, but it's the key to a fulfilling and aligned life: If you feel lost in life and want to find yourself again, start following your joy!
Ask yourself:
What lights me up? What brings me joy?
What gives me energy?
What gets me excited?
Whatever brings you JOY is a clue that your choice is aligned with you. So your job is to follow that and create more of it in your life.
Imagine if you ONLY said yes to things that were a 100% YES. What kind of life would you be able to create?
Going From Feeling Lost In Life To Finding a Path That’s 100% Aligned with You
Bottom line, if you’re feeling lost in life, start by turning inwards. The coaching tools I shared above are a great foundation.
And know that you don’t have to figure out everything today. Give yourself time to get to know yourself. This is a process. You've probably spent years (if not decades!) out of contact with yourself so let go of the expectation that you'll have it all figured out in one day.
I know we all want quick answers, but there’s no quick fix for this - IF you’re interested in creating sustainable and long-term change and a fulfilling, meaningful life, you need to put in the work of rediscovering yourself, what you love, what brings you joy, what you have to give.
Once you start doing that, your next (small) step will naturally reveal itself. Or in other words, you'll be able to hear that voice inside of you that's been there all along, you've just been disconnected from it.
